Turkiye’nin Streetwear Oncusu: NeoFly!

Bir kac ay once Turkiye’ye tasindigimizda goze en cok carpan sey, Sneaker kulturunun hemen hemen eksik olmasiydi. O ilk Sneakersiz gunler bizim icin cok zordu. Ancak ilkbahar’a dogru Beyoglu’nu dolasirken Istiklal’in bir ara sokaginda Istanbul’un pirlantasini bulmustuk: NeoFly!

Adidas, Nike, Puma, New Balance, Reebok, ve daha fazla markalarin pabuclarini satan magazada, ayakkabi disinda hem de Nike Sportswear ve Adidas Originals giyisileri de bulunuyor. Yurt disinda alistigimiz Sneaker dukkanlarina en cok yaklasan bu magazanin hem de bir kac tane subesi ve online alisveris sitesi bile varmis!

When we moved to Turkey, a couple of months ago, the thing that struck us most was the fact that the Sneaker scene is almost non-existing here. Those first sneakerless days were very hard for us. But then Spring arrived and during one of our many strolls down Istiklal Caddesi in Beyoglu we found this gem in a sneaky side street: NeoFly!

Beside the Adidas, Nike, Puma, New Balance and Reebok sneakers, this store also carries Nike Sportswear and Adidas Originals gear. On top of that we found out that this store, which is the closest thing to the Sneaker stores abroad we’re used to, has more stores and even has an online store!

There was still one thing we didn’t get though: NeoFly exists, but where the hell are all the people wearing these sneakers?!

TOYGIANTS kitabi 36 yasindaki Dusseldorf’ta yasayan Selim Varol’un tasarim oyuncaklarin Daniel & Geo Fuchs tarafindan santasal bir sekilde fotograflarini cekip bir kitap haline getirilimis! Butun dunyada satilan bu kitap, sergilere de neden olmus ama bizim icin ne yazik ki daha Turkiye’ye bu serginin gelmemesi. Ama Selim Varol’un Turkiye’de de isleri oldugu icin (Bant Dergi’sinin sahibi) belki yakinda onu ikna edebiliriz! Ikinci kitabi da cikmasi beklenen Selim Varol’un koleksiyonu herhalde o kitaptan sonra su anda ki 3 milyon dolari da gecer!

The book TOYGIANTS is a collection of artistic photographs taken by Daniel & Geo Fuchs of the Toy collection of 36-year old Dusseldorfer Selim Varol. The book is being sold all over the world and has even turned into a gallery exhibition that travels the world. Unfortunately for us in Turkey, they haven dropped by us but because Selim Varol has work in Turkey as well, we’re hoping that they will set up shop here for a while! With preparations for the second book starting the value of Varol’s giant collection of toys will definitely surpass the 3 million dollar it’s worth now!

Ilk bakista bu Leice M8.2 (Muzik grubu M82′le karistirmayin sakin) eski bir kameraya benziyor ve bunu ozellikle yapmislar zaten. Nasil Adidas, Reebok ve Nike eski modellerini yeniden cikartiyorsa, Leica da eski bir tasarima yeni bir dijital kamera koymus! Super bir gorunuz ama ne yazik ki biraz pahali bizim icin!

At first sight the new Leica M8.2 (don’t confuse with M82 the band) looks old. Make that retro and you understand that Leica is doing what Nike, Adidas and Reebok have been doing lately: bringing something old out in a fresher and newer version! This digital camera is a bit overpriced for us, but if you can afford it don’t look further!
